INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was killed and two others were hospitalized Thursday morning following a crash on Indianapolis' north side.
The crash happened in the 5200 block of N. Keystone Avenue just before 7 a.m.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were in the area when they heard a loud crash.
They saw a white Volvo with three people inside had struck an IPL pole.
All three were taken to Methodist hospital but the front-seat passenger, identified by the Marion County Coroner as Jahaunnah Washington, 19, of California, died of her injuries.
The driver, 28, and other passenger, 22, did not suffer life-threatening injuries, according to IMPD.
Accident investigators say the Volvo was trying to pass a blue car at the time of the crash.
Police say the owner and driver of the blue car contacted authorities after seeing reports on the news.
Both parties are cooperating with the investigation.
