INDIANAPOLIS — A 22-year-old was taken into custody and a 55-year-old man was taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after a car crashed into the Indy Hostel on the city's northside.

Indianapolis Fire Department said a 55-year-old man staying at the hostel was in the bathroom around 1:15 a.m. when the car crashed into the building. The man was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in stable condition.

Witness told authorities they saw the driver, a 22-year-old man, crashed into the building after driving at a high rate of speed and not stopping at a stop sign. IFD said the man was driving a Dodge Charger he borrowed.

IFD said the hostel has an estimated $30,000 of damage after the crash.
