Toddler struck and killed by family member in Indianapolis in 'tragic accident,' IMPD says

INDIANAPOLIS — A toddler was struck and killed by a family member just before noon Wednesday on the northeast side of Indianapolis, according to police.

The family member struck the toddler with their vehicle in the 2600 block of Ebbie Road, near North Franklin Road and East 30th Street, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Samone Burris said.

The family is cooperating with detectives, Burris said. Detectives are trying to determine if the child was struck in a driveway or the road.

Police calling the incident a "tragic accident."

The Marion County Coroner has identified the child as Michael Giron-Ramirez.

Additional details about the accident have not been released and remain under investigation.
