Police buyback more than 180 guns during cease fire weekend event

INDIANAPOLIS – Police collected 181 guns during a gun buyback event Saturday in Indianapolis.

The event was one of the events held by local pastors during the “Cease Fire Weekend” Nov. 2-4.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers handed out a total of $19,300 in gift cards to those who dropped off firearms.

IMPD said their key funding partners were the Indy Public Safety Foundation, Mothers Against Violence, and Dr. Jason Bowlds.
