Spanning three blocks on 16th Street from the Monon Trail to Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue in Indianapolis, PreEnact Indy is imagining what a neighborhood ought to be.
Through interactive performances, the Harrison Center for the Arts in partnership with 13 local and professional theatre groups in in the Indy area, the actors are demonstrating a vibrant community through this shared vision.
It has been two years in the making - and now they are welcoming you and your family to experience this hypothetical neighborhood with all of you.
"They can do everything from see a performance that is celebrating the neighborhood to exploring the old Dunbar Library that is now closed but was the very first African-American library in Indianapolis,” says the Executive Director for Harrison Center for the Arts, Joanna Taft. “They can go to the penny candy store and buy penny candy, you can hear songs written about this neighborhood, they can see art created about this neighborhood. And you can interact with artists that are walking around like you and me. So you don't know who is an actor or who is an attender."
There are multiple events and performances throughout the day with special guests stopping by including Indianapolis Major Joe Hogsett and State Representative Andre Carson.
The event is free to the public on Saturday October 7 and runs from 10am to 5pm.
