INDIANAPOLIS -- A 14-year-old was hurt when he was struck by a van while riding a bike Wednesday night on Indianapolis' west side.
Police were called to the intersection of 10th Street and Holmes Avenue on a report of a teenager struck by a van. They found the teenager in the street. He was taken to Riley Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the van, who stayed at the scene, told police she was headed west on 10th Street when teenagers crossed the street north on Holmes Avenue. She told police she had a green light when one bicyclist crossed. She said she didn't see the second one when she struck him.
The driver of the van stayed at the scene. Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
