Woman turns herself into police for killing 13-year-old

INDIANAPOLIS -- A 33-year-old has woman surrendered herself in connection to the shooting death of an Indianapolis teen. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives say Shantell Taylor, 33, turned herself in Saturday, in connection with the shooting death of 13-year-old Harry Taliefer. 

Police were originally called to the 2200 block of Barnor Drive around 11 p.m. Thursday for a disturbance. When they arrived, they found Taliefer suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  He was transported to Riley Children's Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

IMPD homicide detectives were assisted by the IMPD violent crimes unit, IMPD Gang Unit and the Marion County Sheriff's Office Gang Unit. In an advisory message, IMPD said their help was "critical in encouraging Taylor to turn herself in and without incident."
