INDIANAPOLIS — A juvenile is in stable condition after a shooting incident Saturday evening in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 5 p.m. to the 7100 block of Portland Square, near West 71st Street and Township Line Road, on the report of a juvenile shot, IMPD Officer Aaron Hamer said in an email. When they arrived, they found a juvenile who had an apparent gunshot wound to the hand.

The juvenile was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, Hamer said.

An officer says the juvenile found the gun outside and it went off, striking them in the hand.

Additional details on the incident were not released.
