LAWRENCE, Ind. – Police officers, firefighters and emergency medical services officials hosted the Lawrence Community Public Safety Day Saturday to give people a chance to meet those who help keep their family safe.
Public safety officials gave SWAT demonstrations and showed people how to use a fire hose among others.
“We are people just like everybody else. Just because we put on our armor and our gun belts and enforce the law sometimes in difficult positions, we are moms, we are dads, we are coaches, we are part of this community just as much as everybody else,” said Chief David Hofmann with the Lawrence Police Department.
The event also included a dunk tank, face painting, climbing wall and a bike helmet giveaway.
