INDIANAPOLIS — A man died while trimming trees Thursday evening on the northwest side of Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Fire Department crews and emergency personnel were called around 6 p.m. to the 4500 block of Lincoln Road on the report of an injured person in a tree, IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith said in a press release. When they arrived, they found a 62-year-old man unresponsive 35 feet up in a tree.
Crews believe the man was removing limbs when a branch unexpectedly snapped, hit him and caused a medical injury, Reith said.
The man had a helmet, harness and rope system while he was in the tree, Reith said.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives are conducting a death investigation.
The man's identity has not been released.
