MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. -- State Police are investigating after a Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy was involved in a shooting early Saturday morning.
Call 6 has learned deputies were called to respond to a "violent male" in the 100 block of East Walnut Street. When police arrived, police learned the man had a gun and he started making threats.
Indiana State Police say as officers were preparing to leave, a male came out of the house with a weapon and allegedly pointed it at bystanders and officers.
The suspect was shot by a deputy and was transported to Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville and was later taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital by an air ambulance in serious condition.
A press release from the Sheriff's office says the shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. in Waynetown.
It is unknown who fired the shots first.
At this time, the conditions or identities of those involved have not been released.
Indiana State Police were on-scene during the incident and will take over the investigation.
