Person taken to hospital in critical condition after incident in Zionsville

Editor's Note: Due to conflicting reports, a previous version of this story stated a victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition after a near-drowning. The story has since been changed to say the victim was critically injured in an incident after learning more about the incident from the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

ZIONSVILLE — A child was taken to the hospital in critical condition after an incident Saturday afternoon in Zionsville.

Zionsville Fire Department crews and emergency personnel were called Saturday to a possible drowning at the pool in the Royal Run neighborhood, Boone County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Burcham said. When they arrived, they find a child who was in a pool when they started choking.

A patient was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in critical condition, Zionsville Fire Department Chief James VanGorder said in an email.

The identity of the patient has not been released.
