INDIANAPOLIS -- One person was killed Thursday morning in a crash on Interstate 69.

A chain reaction crash, involving three semis and three cars, happened around 4:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-69 near 96th Street.

State troopers say the driver of one of the cars involved, Jaspreet Darar, 23, was killed and two other drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. 

In a separate crash on I-69 north near a construction zone, troopers say 23-year-old Morgan Thomas rear-ended a box truck  Both vehicles caught fire causing all lanes of I-69 to be closed. Thomas was arrested on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated.

I-69 north was closed for several hours as a result of both crashes.
