INDIANAPOLIS -- A person was struck and killed in a hit-and-run on Indianapolis' northwest side Monday morning.
The person, who was on a motorcycle, was hit around 10 a.m., near the intersection of 59th Street and Georgetown Road.
EMS crews arrived and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 37-year-old Michael Foree, of Indianapolis.
Detectives believe the crash happened when the motorcycle was going south on Georgetown Road toward 59th Street, when another vehicle -- possibly an SUV -- was turning west onto 59th. Investigators are still trying to learn the exact circumstances of the crash, like if speed or other factors were involved.
"Whoever's in the SUV needs to turn themselves in," Kenny Gilbert, a friend of the victim, said. "It was an accident, let it be that. But, to run off, now it's a crime."
