INDIANAPOLIS -- Less than 12 hours after a man was shot and killed on Indy's east side, police arrested a suspect.

One man was killed in a shooting Tuesday around 8 p.m. on the 6500 block of E. 25th Street, near Arlington Avenue.

Police noticed a silver vehicle leaving the scene, and a passer-by said the vehicle might have a shooting victim in it. Police stopped the vehicle and found the victim, 24-year-old Deontae Davis.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified Jamarr Edmond, 25 as a suspect. Edmond was questioned and later arrested on a preliminary charge of murder.

Police believe two groups of people were arguing before the shooting.
