COLUMBUS, Ind. -- A 13-year-old girl was arrested in Columbus, Indiana after police received a report of an intoxicated driver.
Around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, a Columbus officer saw an SUV hit a curb while turning into a subdivision. When the officer pulled the SUV over, she noticed the driver and the passenger switching seats.
There were five total people in the SUV.
The new driver was a 17-year-old, who had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.
He provided a breath sample of .088 percent, and was taken into custody. The backseat passenger, Joseph R. Chasteen, 18, blew a .017 percent and was also taken into custody.
The 13-year-old girl passed a breath test, but was taken into custody for operating a vehicle without a license.
The other two people, both underage, were released to their parents.
