One man is in custody after a carjacking led police on a foot chase on the east side of Indianapolis.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a call of armed carjacking at about 5:20 Monday morning from a gas station on E. 16th Street.
An officer spotted the vehicle, a red Chevy Trailblazer and chased it to E. 10th Street. The suspect then jumped out of the Trailblazer and ran -- without stopping the vehicle -- with an officer and a K-9 chasing.
Police found the male suspect hiding in the backyard of a nearby house on the 8200 block of E. 11th Street.
Police say there have been reports of carjackings in the area, and believe this suspect could be connected to them.
