INDIANAPOLIS -- Police are looking for a man involved in a hit-and-run in downtown Indianapolis Monday morning.

The crash happened in front of the Salvation Army building near the intersection of Alabama Street and Michigan Street.

Police say a member of the sheriff's department saw a burgundy GMC Yukon stopped near the intersection of Alabama Street and Ohio Street.

He walked up to the window, believing the driver may need help. When he knocked on the window, the Yukon took off, going the wrong direction on Alabama Street.

The Yukon then crashed into a car and jeep near Alabama Street and Michigan Street.

After the crash, the driver got out and ran. Police are still searching for him.

One woman had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out. The other driver was OK.
