INDIANAPOLIS — It may feel like it all the time now, but it's officially road construction season in Indiana.

More than 1,100 road projects are scheduled for 2019 along Indiana Department of Transportation routes. Those projects, as well as preventative maintenance, will cost the state more than $2 billion this year.

This is the second year of Gov. Eric Holcomb's Next Level Roads Plan. On Tuesday, he stressed that you should be careful on the roads this summer, as drivers see many "road construction ahead" signs.

"Be careful. And spread the word," Gov. Holcomb said. "Tell folks there's going to be a record amount of construction going on in the State of Indiana at the ground level. We need your cooperation."

The state is expected to spend more than $30 billion in road projects over the next 20 years.
