BLOOMINGTON — The body of a man who went missing while swimming from the back of a boat on Lake Monroe was located late Sunday night.

Indiana Conservation Officers and emergency personnel say William Snoddy, 31, was swimming from the back of a boat that had been anchored in Allen's Creek Bay when he went missing around 3:30 p.m.

Witnesses told conservation officers that they saw Snoddy go under the water around 3:30 p.m. but they never saw him resurface.

Crews searched throughout the evening and located Snoddy's body around 10 p.m. Sunday evening. DNR says he was not wearing a life vest when he went into the water.

Snoddy's cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Monroe County Coroner.
