INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was shot and killed on Indianapolis' northwest side early Monday morning.
The shooting happened around 3:45 a.m., in the 5600 block of Dobbs Ferry Drive, in the Liberty Creek South subdivision.
The woman was found lying on the steps of the house where she lived. Police say the woman's children called 911. She had five children aged 2-24. She was later identified by family as Nerva Singleton, 40.
"It comes as a shock to us anytime somebody gets shot like that," IMPD Commander Michael Jefferson said. "Right now, we have no suspects. ... Witnesses inside heard the shots -- some of those were kids. That's always a tough situation."
People in the neighborhood say a couple children saw a light-colored Ford Taurus speed off from the scene.
