INDIANAPOLIS -- There is a new member of the Indianapolis City-County Council.
At a caucus Tuesday night, the Marion County Republican Party voted for Jefferson Shreve to replace Jeff Miller.
Shreve will take over representing District 16 on Indy's south side. He will serve the remainder of Miller's term -- about 15 months.
"I think I can hit the ground running," Shreve said. "I know the landscape, the district [and] some of the big economic development issues before the city"
Shreve is currently on the Metropolitan Development Commission and has served on the council previously.
Miller resigned last month after pleading guilty to battery charges. He was accused of inappropriately touching children.
