HENDRICKS COUNTY — Three candidates are challenging two incumbents for two school board seats in the North West Hendricks School Corporation.

Abbie Morgan and David Pyatt are vying for school board president Jim Diagostino’s Middle Township seat, while Joe Brooks is challenging incumbent board member Craig Peoples for his At-Large seat.

The school board has faced criticism over the last year for how it handled sexual misconduct allegations involving a teacher and student, as well as how much it spent on the aftermath.

Four former school employees currently have criminal charges pending, and three of them were terminated by the district. The fourth resigned.

WRTV reported the school district paid two administrators, Nathan and Stacey Begle, a total of $111,667 while they were on paid administrative leave.

Abbie Morgan, David Pyatt and Joe Brooks are all calling for more transparency, communication and fiscal responsibility from the North West Hendricks school board.

You can hear from them Wednesday, September 23 at 5 pm on the WRTV app, WRTV Facebook page, and wrtv.com.
