INDIANAPOLIS — Looking to fix some of the city’s worst streets, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett announced many of the roads that will be targeted for repair in 2019.

“We are going to address some long-neglected roadways that will make travel easier,” Hogsett said.

Hogsett said the following roads will be priority in 2019:

  • Binford Boulevard from 38th Street to I-69
  • 16th Street from Polco Street to Lafayette Road
  • West Street from Bluff Road to Wisconsin Street
  • Mitthoeffer Road from Prospect Street to Washington Street

The 2019 repaving and repairing project is part of the $400 million infrastructure plan over the next four years. The plan was part of the budget the Indianapolis City-County Council unanimously approved last year.

But as the repaving gets underway, DPW Director Dan Parker had a warning for drivers across the area.

“Residents are going to see orange barrels like they’ve never seen across our city since the Rebuild Indy days earlier this decade,” he said. "Please, when the construction starts, slow down and give construction crews as much room as possible."
