New Palestine woman killed in head-on crash on U.S. 52

NEW PALESTINE — A New Palestine woman was killed in a head-on crash Sunday morning in Hancock County.

Deputies and emergency personnel were called to the crash around 7:45 a.m. on West U.S. 52 near County Road 300 West.

Peggy Brune, 69, of New Palestine, was killed when the driver of another car, a 66-year-old man, of Fountaintown, crossed the center line and struck Brune's car, Hancock County Sheriff's Department Capt. Robert Harris said in a press release.

The Fountaintown man and his son, a 45-year-old, of Fountaintown, were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Harris said.

The Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team is working to determine why the Foutaintown man drove across the center line.

He is cooperating with the investigation, Harris said. Drugs and alcohol aren't believed to be factors in the crash, but because of the severity of the crash, took a drug and alcohol test.
