INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man died when he drove his car into a semitrailer on Interstate 465 Friday afternoon, police said.
James W. Simison, 53, was exiting onto Southeastern Avenue from the southbound lanes of I-465 when he collided with the trailer, according to Indiana State Police.
Troopers responded about 2:40 p.m. to I-465 near the Interstate 74 ramp and U.S. 421.
Simison was driving a Ford Transit behind a semi-tractor when for some reason he struck the rear of the trailer it was hauling, resulting in fatal injuries.
Simison was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-tractor driver was not injured.
Police say drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
