INDIANAPOLIS — Here's a way for you to cash in once you clear out some unwanted items during spring cleaning.
The Just Between Friends consignment event is happening at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds until Saturday, April 27. It's a way for Indianapolis families to cash in on some of their clutter.
Hundreds of families are participating in the pop-up consignment event and you can too.
Through the Just Between Friends website, people have tagged their unwanted and gently used items. During the week of the event, the participants drop off their items at the Hamilton County Fairground. From there, the organization takes care of the rest. Then, two weeks after the event, consignors get a check in the mail for items that were sold.
According to Dawn Pfannenstiel, Just Between Friends Indianapolis Owner, the average seller check is around $400.
The sale is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday with deeper discounts each day. Shoppers can find everything from children's clothing and toys to some gently used higher-demand items - like car seats, mamaRoos, bikes, and playsets — all for 50 to 90 percent off retail.
"The big stuff are great sellers because they take up so much space, so you kind of want to get them out of your house or your backyard," Pfannenstiel said. "And then they are good sellers because they are so expensive that people want to buy them at an inexpensive price."
