Indy 500 forecast: Will it rain? Running updates on the race day forecast

INDIANAPOLIS -- We've been tracking a lot of changes in the forecast for race day.

Indy 500 Race Day

Outside of a spotty shower, the morning hours look mostly cloudy and mainly dry.  By noon, temperatures are expected to be in the mid-70s with mostly cloudy skies.  Some sunshine may even break out from time to time.  Around 2 pm, the chance for a spotty shower is back with us.  We will be watching for a line of rain and storms to come together over NW Indiana by mid to late afternoon.  As of now, rain and storms could reach IMS near or after 5 pm, lingering around for a few hours.  Timing is still a fluid situation and will be updated as the newest information comes in.  Any storms that do form could be strong to severe.  Highs in the upper 70s could reach 80 if enough sunshine breaks through…this would also increase our storm chances.

Breakfast at the Brickyard starts at 5 a.m. on RTV6 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
