CARMEL, Ind. -- Families in Carmel gathered Tuesday for the inaugural Horsepower 500, a charity race to benefit the Children's Theraplay Foundation, a clinic that provides physical and occupational therapy on horseback for children with special needs.
Several IndyCar drivers participated in a tricycle race, with Scott Dixon winning in controversial fashion.
"It was maybe a little bit of cheating," Dixon said, laughing. "But it was a fun event."
In the end, the real winners were the kids.
"It's such a great feeling to come out," James Hinchcliffe said. "Anything you can give that puts a smile on one of these kid's faces for a day is totally worth it. ... This was a home run."
