Megan Shinn is a proud Emmy and Edward R. Murrow award-winning anchor and journalist whose career has taken her from coast to coast. Born in Iowa and raised in Denver Colorado, she’s no stranger to the Midwest and cold weather.
She joined WRTV as an anchor on Good Morning Indiana in 2020 and was with the team until December of 2023. She launched the new 7PM show with a huge emphasis on in-depth, community-based stories using innovative technology. At the station, Megan also leads WRTV’s Equity Diversity and Inclusion committee.
Before moving to Indiana, she spent three years at the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia where Megan covered a variety of stories from breaking news to military homecomings. Prior to living on the East coast, Megan worked as a weekend anchor, weather forecaster, and weekday reporter at KMTR in Eugene, Oregon.
Her passion for news took off in Southern California, where she earned a BFA in Television Broadcast Journalism from Chapman University. During college, she interned at top markets including KNBC and KCBS/ KCAL in Los Angeles; she also worked for ESPN3. One of her favorite college experiences was having sailed around the world on “Semester At Sea”.
She is invested in the Hoosier community, and she loves spending time as a board member with the USO Indiana. With family in the military and medical industry, she holds a soft spot in her heart for raising money to find a cure for diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
In her free time, Megan enjoys cooking, hiking, and exploring Indiana with her husband, Mike. As an avid runner, Megan ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2019. Follow her on social media and you’ll see her adopted shelter cats Basil and Odin.
