INDIANAPOLIS — A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting Sunday afternoon that killed a man on the southwest side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Police responded to a call around 3 p.m. at the 1200 block of Kappes Street.
According to IMPD, the victim was in critical condition due to a gunshot wound, but later pronounced deceased by the Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services.
The man was identified as Larry Cagg, 43, Marion County Coroner's Office said Monday. His death was ruled a homicide.
On Monday, IMPD said William Elder, 17, had been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Cagg's death. Marion County prosecutors charged Elder with murder on July 14, records show.
Police believe the suspect and Cagg knew each other and say the shooting stemmed from a "disturbance."
