DELAWARE COUNTY — A man died Tuesday morning following a shooting near Albany in Delaware County.
Deputies with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at 11:51 a.m. in the 12300 block of E. County Road 500 N.
When they arrived, they located 59-year-old Gerald Lee Copley laying outside of a residence unresponsive. He was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday, a witness say Cy Alley shoot Copley, get into a truck and drive back to his home down the street from the victim.
Alley told detectives he'd been having electricity problems and assumed Copley was hacking into his network. Detectives say Alley went to Copley's house to confront him and shot him "with the intent to kill him."
"Cy was not remorseful for his actions," the affidavit read.
This is an ongoing investigation, however, deputies say there is no longer a threat to the community.
Alley faces one county of murder and a firearms sentencing enhancement was also filed, according to the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office.
