MUNCIE — The federal jury trial for former Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler has been rescheduled to July due to COVID-19 concerns.

The jury trial, now scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on July 12, was previously scheduled for Feb. 8, according to federal court records. The final pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 24.

In November 2020, the court announced it was suspending all in-person jury trials and naturalization ceremonies until at least Jan. 25 due to the pandemic.

Tyler, who was arrested in November 2019 by FBI agents at his home, is facing one charge of theft of government funds.
