IMPD investigating deadly shooting on Cottage Avenue

INDIANAPOLIS — Detectives are investigating a deadly shooting Sunday morning on the south side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called around 4:25 a.m. to the 600 block of Cottage Avenue, south of East Morris and South East streets, on the report of a person shot.

When they arrived, officers found a person with at least one apparent gunshot wound, IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley said in a press release. They later died. Their identity hasn't been released.

The shooting remains under investigation by homicide detectives.

Since 3 p.m. Friday, at least five people have been shot, four fatally, in Indianapolis.
