INDIANAPOLIS — A man was killed in a shooting late Thursday on the city's west side, police said.
Officers responded about 11:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Bertha Court for a report of a gunshot victim, said IMPD spokeswoman Samone Burris.
Medics pronounced 53-year-old Charles Ray Cole dead at the scene.
Burris said in a news release a person was detained and transported to the IMPD Homicide Office for questioning.
In a press release on Friday afternoon, IMPD announced the man was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder.
Marion County prosecutors charged Leon T. Brewer, 57, on Feb. 2 with murder and carrying a handgun with a prior felony conviction in connection with Cole's death, records show.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Michael McWhorter at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or e-mail him at Michael.McWhorter2@Indy.Gov.
