INDIANAPOLIS — A homicide investigation is underway after one person was killed in an alleged road rage shooting near I-65 in Greenwood.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on County Line Road. Indiana State Police say law enforcement officers found a man with gunshot wounds inside a white work van.
Investigators say the man and a woman, who was also in the van, were traveling east on County Line Road when an unknown suspect fired at them. The man died at the scene.
On Thursday, the Johnson County Coroner's Office identified the man killed as Richard Donnell Hamilton, 43.
Troopers believe the Hamilton's van was targeted by people in another vehicle as they exited I-65 northbound to County Line Road.
According to an update from ISP on Thursday, the shooting was road rage related. The number of shots fired are unknown at this time.
Greenwood Police and Greenwood Fire also responded to the scene.

have come forward after the incident. They are currently seeking more information from anyone who may have been in the area of I-65 and County Line Road or who were traveling on I-65 in the area between 6:15 - 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.
Detectives are also searching for a gray sedan style vehicle with dark tinted windows.
