INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead after a shooting on the northeast side Sunday afternoon.

Officers responded to the 4000 block of Hampshire Court around 3 p.m. and found the male victim, who had been shot multiple times, inside his apartment.

Sgt. Genae Cook says the man died at the scene.

He was later identified as Quelo Hogue, 46, according to the Marion County Coroner's Office.

Homicide detectives responding to the area, which is near 42nd and Post. Police do not believe there is a threat to the area but are continuing to investigate what led up to the shooting.

"A lot of people in this area might seem afraid to call, might be afraid to give information, but every time that someone calls it gives us another piece of the puzzle, another piece that allows us to put a closure to a horrible incident that happened to this family, to what happened in this neighborhood," Cook said. "They have to work with us as much as we have to work with them to solve problems like this that occur."
