DELAWARE COUNTY — A pregnant mother and her two you children who were killed when the car they were in crashed and caught fire in a rural area of the county have been identified.
According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, a 54-year-old woman was driving on S. County Road 600 West when her car went off the road for an unknown reason, hit a culvert, flipped multiple times and caught fire.
A passerby pulled the driver from the car, but was unable to help the young pregnant mother and her two children who were still inside. The pregnant woman was the daughter of the driver, according to police.
The woman and her two young children were all killed. The driver's condition is not known at this time.
The Delaware County Coroner has identified the victims as Alexis Strader, 28, her 3-year-old son, Jonah, her 1-year-old daughter, Laila and her unborn child.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No additional details have been released at this time.
