Shakkira [Shuh-KY-Rah] Harris is a Digital Reporter at WRTV focusing on the community and diversity beat.

Shakkira’s work can be found in The Arizona Republic, NUVO, WRTV.com and Medium.

Shakkira is 2018 Pulliam Fellow who was placed in Phoenix, Arizona inside the azcentral newsroom. There she learned from Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists for the better part of a year and began not only her journey as a journalist but as a social media producer and reporter. She gained experience in everything social, from real-time reporting at MAGA rallies and ICE protests to writing up trending stories.

Shakkira came to WRTV in Indianapolis at the end of 2018 and began her tenure here as a Real-Time Digital Editor. In August 2021, she transitioned to being a Digital Reporter.

Shakkira is a proud graduate of IUPUI where she earned her BA in Journalism with a focus in Sports, studied Creative Writing, and received her Minor in Literature.

Community-driven journalism, art, literature, pop culture, food, race, sex and gender relations, are all among the topics Shakkira most enjoys writing about.
