INDIANAPOLIS — After two years without a blackout from watching the Indy 500 live locally, the blackout will return in 2022.
Without a sell-out of the roughly 240,000 reserved grandstand seats at IMS, the event will not be shown live on local television for residents around Indianapolis.
Attendance for this year's big race s expected to be over 300,000.
According to IMS, the race will only be available locally live for fans who are subscribed to the premium tier of the NBC's Peacock streaming service.
The race will also be available later as a replay on the streaming app.
Tickets are still available here.
