Megan Shinn is a proud Morning Anchor on Good Morning Indiana. She is an Emmy award-winning journalist whose career has taken her from coast to coast. Born in Iowa and raised in Denver Colorado, she’s no stranger to the midwest and cold weather.
You’ll see Megan is a fan of the early morning hours. Before moving to Indiana, she spent three years at the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia, where she worked as ‘jane of all trades’ and morning reporter. Megan covered a variety of stories from breaking news to military homecomings.
Prior to living on the east coast, Megan worked as a weekend anchor, weather forecaster, and weekday reporter at KMTR in Eugene, Oregon.
Her passion for news took off in Southern California, where she earned a BFA in Television Broadcast Journalism from Chapman University. During college, she interned at top markets including KNBC and KCBS/ KCAL in Los Angeles; she also worked for ESPN3.
She is invested in the Hoosier community, and she loves to spend time volunteering at food banks and getting her hands dirty with Habitat for Humanity. With family in the military and medical industry, she holds a soft spot in her heart for raising money to find a cure for diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
In her free time, Megan enjoys reading, fitness, cooking, and being outdoors. As an avid runner, she ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2019. Follow her on social media and you’ll see her adopted shelter cat Basil exploring alongside her owner.
One of her favorite experiences was having sailed around the world on “Semester At Sea”. As a former competitive dancer, she was able to teach dance classes on the ship in her free time.
