INDIANAPOLIS — The 2-year-old boy who was inside a vehicle that was stolen has been found safe, according to police.
Sources say the child was located in the 2600 block of North High School Road after a civilian reported seeing a truck appearing to be the one that was stolen drop him off, possibly at a random location. The child's mother has confirmed his identity, according to IMPD Sgt. Genae Cook.
The child was found on the city's west side, about 12-13 miles away from the Shell gas station at 34th Street and Emerson Avenue where police say the vehicle was stolen.
Cook said the child will be checked out by medics as a precaution.
The mother was inside the gas station and the child was in the back seat of the vehicle when it was stolen. The child went missing about 10:20 a.m.
The suspect and vehicle were located hours late near the intersection of 25th Street and Street on the east side.
