BROWNSBURG — A man has died after authorities say his car crashed into a retention pond in Brownsburg.
According to the Brownsburg Fire Department, crews responded to a call of a vehicle in water at 7:04 p.m. in the 500 block of Pit Road.
BFD crews found a car partially submerged in a retention pond. Crews located the victim and brought him to shore.
The victim was later identified as Kevin Turner, 56. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Turner’s 1993 Honda Civic left the south side of the road on Interstate 74 for an unknown reason.
According to police, the car went into the median and struck the cable barrier. The vehicle crossed both lanes of traffic and went through a fence into the retention pond on the north side of I-74.
Police say there were no other passengers in the car.
Police are asking for help from the public or any potential witnesses that may have been in the area between 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on March 29. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Doug Abshire at 317.852.1109 or by email at dabshire@brownsburgpolice.org.
