INDIANAPOLIS — One person died in a crash early Wednesday on a ramp from Interstate 74 to Interstate 465 on the city's southeast side, police say.
The crash happened sometime before 9:10 a.m. near Old U.S. 41 and I-465 and involved a single vehicle that went off the road, according to Indiana State Police.
ISP Sgt. John Haugh located a white Chrysler well off the roadway near the interchange. Haugh, Senior Trooper Matt Wilson and Trooper Nick Cox were able to remove the passenger from the car and begin medical aid.
The driver of the vehicle was unable to be removed until IFD crews arrived.
The driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Indiana State Police identified the passenger as 29-year-old Eddie Watson of Greenfield.
Preliminary investigation determined the driver of a white Chrysler drove the vehicle off the road down into a crevasse and came to rest barely visible from the road or any of the ramps in the area.
