INDIANAPOLIS — A man was injured late Tuesday after he fell in the seating area of a concert at Lucas Oil Stadium, police say.
Witnesses tell WRTV it happened as rock bands Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard.
A report made by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department indicates the man fell over a railing.
Officers responded about 11 p.m. to the venue, 500 S. Capitol Ave., for a report of an injured person.
IMPD Officer Samone Burris said officers assisted IEMS at the scene and that the man was "awake and breathing" immediately following the fall. The police report lists his condition as "stable" and says he was transported to Eskenazi Hospital.
Burris later said an investigation found the man was "extremely intoxicated" and ended up falling after he leaned over the railing.
A hazmat team was also called to the scene.
Monica Whitfield Brase, a spokeswoman for the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, provided the following statement to WRTV:
"Late last evening we were made aware that a person was injured as the result of a fall during the Stadium Tour. The person was assessed by on-site paramedics and transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Although we do not know the extent of the person’s injuries, the individual appeared to be communicating with paramedics on site prior to leaving the stadium. At this time we do not believe other guests or employees in the Stadium were involved in the incident."
