HENDRICKS COUNTY — A tow truck driver was shot Friday morning at a rest stop along Interstate 70 in Hendricks County by a man who the tow truck driver was trying to help, according to state police.
Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine said one person was taken to a hospital with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound in critical condition after they were shot around 10:15 a.m. near the rest area along I-70 eastbound.
Perrine said after the man shot the tow truck driver, he got his 4-year-old son out of the disabled vehicle, stole the tow truck and drove away. The man was apprehended by troopers a short time later.
No identities have been released at this time.
The case remains under investigation by detectives and the Hendricks County Prosecutor's Office.
