Co-anchoring the evening news in her hometown of Indianapolis is a dream come true for WRTV Anchor Nicole Griffin.
The Ben Davis graduate developed a passion for broadcasting in high school. Through the BDTV broadcasting program at the Area 31 career center, Griffin had an opportunity to learn how to shoot, write, and edit news stories that aired weekly on BDTV.
In 2008, Griffin continued developing her skills as a multimedia journalist at Ball State University. As a student, she anchored and reported for Newslink Indiana, a nightly newscast that aired in Delaware County. Griffin graduated from Ball State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Telecommunications.
Starting her professional career in journalism took Griffin more than 10 hours away from home to Lincoln, NE.
In 2014, Griffin began producing a two hour morning show at 10/11 News, the CBS affiliate in Lincoln. In 2015, Griffin was promoted to a multimedia journalist and was assigned the crime beat.
After three years in Nebraska, Griffin was ready for her next career move and wanted to be closer to family.
In 2017, Griffin was hired at WRTV as multimedia journalist. She moved back to central Indiana with her husband Chris.
Griffin enjoys spending time outdoors at the pool, grilling out, watching live music, spending time with family, barre workout classes and discovering news places to eat around Central IN.
In 2019, Griffin was promoted to anchor the weekend evening newscasts at WRTV and in 2021 she was promoted to co-anchor the weekday evening newscasts.
Griffin continues to share stories in communities across Central Indiana as a multimedia journalist. Have a story idea? Reach out: firstname.lastname@example.org.
